Biographical Sketch: Dr. Lisa Saiman received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. She performed her pediatric internship and residency and subspecialty training in pediatric infectious diseases at Columbia University in New York, New York. Upon completion of her training, she joined the faculty at Columbia University in 1989 and received her Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology from Columbia University in 1999. Currently, Dr. Saiman is a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at Columbia University and an Attending Physician and Hospital Epidemiologist at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian. Dr. Saiman’s primary research and clinical interests are in cystic fibrosis (CF), healthcare-acquired infections, multidrug-resistant pathogens, and antimicrobial stewardship. She serves as an advisor to the CF Foundation (CFF) and is a member of the CFF Data Safety and Monitoring Board, the Clinical Research Committee, and annual meeting planning committee. She has served as a division chair for the American Society of Microbiology and serves on the Editorial Board of the journals Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology and the Archives of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine. Dr. Saiman has lectured nationally and internationally on pediatric infectious diseases issues and is a recognized expert in the field.
