Biographical Sketch: Melissa B. Miller, Ph.D., D(ABMM), is an Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. She is also the Director of the Molecular Microbiology Laboratory and Associate Director of the Microbiology-Immunology Laboratory at the UNC Hospitals. Dr. Miller received her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Princeton University and completed the Medical and Public Health Microbiology Fellowship at the UNC Hospitals. She is a member of the Board of American College of Microbiology and the editorial board for the Journal of Clinical Microbiology. Dr. Miller was honored as the 2009 recipient of ASM’s Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Young Investigator Award. Dr. Miller’s research focus is the development and assessment of molecular diagnostic assays for the detection of pathogens and the study of microbial epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance.
