Biographical Sketch:
Leonard Leibovici is a graduate of the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel-Aviv University and completed his residency in internal medicine at Beilinson Hospital. He heads the Department of Medicine E at the Rabin Medical Center, Beilinson Campus, Petah-Tiqva, Israel; and is a full professor of Medicine at Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel-Aviv University. Since 2007 he serves as Vice Dean and Head of the Medical School, Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel-Aviv University. He is an editor with the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotheray, and served on the editorial board of the British Medical Journal for 5 years. Professor Leibovici chairs the Israel National Appeal Committee on Drug Registration, and served for many years in research ethics committees. He has more than 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals, among them JAMA, BMJ, Annals of Internal Medicine, Archives of Internal Medicine, Lancet Infectious Diseases, Journal of Clinical Oncology and the Cochrane Library. His main research interests are computerised decision support, antibiotic treatment and evidence-based medicine. Together with Steen Andreassen he leads an international study group on these subjects (the TREAT study group), which was repeatedly supported by the research frameworks of the EU.
