Biographical Sketch:
Ben Cooper works in the Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) in Bangkok where his work involves i) developing mathematical models to help understand the dynamics of infectious diseases and evaluate the likely impact of control measures; ii) developing and applying statistical methods for the analysis of infectious disease data; and iii) advising on the design and analysis of epidemiological studies. Much of this work focuses on healthcare associated infections, though he has published work on several other pathogens. This reflects a broad interest in using models and modern statistical approaches to help understand both the within and between-host population biology of infectious diseases. Before joining MORU Ben held positions at the UK Health Protection Agency, the Harvard School of Public Health and University College London. He is also an honorary lecturer at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Ben holds a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of London, and an MSc in Analytical Biology and PhD in Biology from the University of Warwick.
