Biographical Sketch:
Erik Dubberke, MD, MSPH, Assistant Professor of Medicine joined the Washington University School of Medicine Infectious Diseases Division in 2005. He received his MD from University of Illinois at Chicago, Rockford Campus in 1999. Afterwards he did his medicine internship and residency at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He subsequently stayed at Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Hospital to do his Infectious Diseases fellowship. His interests include transplant infectious diseases, infections in oncology patients, C. difficile-associated disease and healthcare epidemiology. He is the Director of the Transplant Infectious Disease Service. Research Interests My research focuses on healthcare epidemiology in transplant and oncology patients, specifically fungal infections, bloodstream infections and C. difficile-associated disease. I study risk factors for these infections and evaluate ways to prevent them. I also am studying risk factors and outcomes of C. difficile-associated disease at Barnes-Jewish Hospital as well as other hospitals that are members of BJC Healthcare. I hope to determine the influence antibiotic prescribing patterns and patient related factors have on the risk of developing C. difficile-associated disease in multiple healthcare settings.
