Summary: This workshop is intended for participants who work in or lead infection prevention, quality improvement, patient safety, and healthcare epidemiology programs. The workshop will describe and provide training in how to develop business cases and financial reports to use with healthcare executives, demonstrate and provide case studies in patient safety and quality improvement methodologies relevant to infection prevention, and share success stories to facilitate more effective implementation of interventions to reduce infections and prevent adverse events.

Learning Objectives:

Describe methods to build a business case to gain resources for healthcare epidemiology and infection prevention programs.
Define effective patient safety and quality improvement methods that can be used for infection prevention.
Identify successful strategies to implement interventions to prevent HAIs and adverse events.
