Summary: This workshop will provide NHSN users with hands-on experience to improve their skills with the analysis capabilities of the NHSN web-based system. Participants will use their own laptops to gain access to a demonstration copy of NHSN and will be guided through exercises, such as using sub-setting data, setting limits on control charts, creating output report sets, exporting datasets, and interpreting results.

Learning Objectives:

Correctly apply analytical functions to analytic case-scenarios to illustrate analysis direction and identify problems within a reporting facility.
Explore longitudinal analysis features of National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) that will enhance understanding of the data, including use of a statistical calculator and control charts.
Understand the potential use of NHSN as an infrastructure for hospital epidemiologic research.
