Biographical Sketch:
Heather Schacht Reisinger is a medical anthropologist for the Center for Research in the Implementation of Innovative Strategies in Practice (CRIISP), a VA Health Services Research and Development Center at the Iowa City VA Medical Center, and in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa. She is the lead qualitative investigator at CRIISP and has led the qualitative/ethnographic components of several of the Center’s larger health services projects. She is currently supported by a VA HSR&D career development award (CD1 08-013-1) to examine the role of families and veteran service organizations in Reserve and National Guard members’ decisions to use VA healthcare after returning from combat. Before coming to the VA, she conducted anthropological research on historical and present-day drug trends and substance abuse treatment.
