Biographical Sketch: Dr. Sheffield is currently an associate professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She has extensive research experience, both basic science and clinical research, locally and at a national level. She has served for a number of years as a consultant for both the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and the National Institutes of Health, serving as a grant reviewer, primary investigator, data safety monitoring board member and now chair person and in the development of clinical guidelines. Finally, she is the MFM fellowship director at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, providing mentorship in research development.
