Biographical Sketch: Dr. Robert J. Sherertz is currently the Hospital Epidemiologist at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Prior professional experiences include being the Chief of Infectious Diseases, Medical Director of Quality, Director of Employee Health. He has been actively involved his entire career doing research on developing a better understanding of the pathogenesis and prevention of nosocomial infections, particularly vascular catheter infections. He did his infectious disease training at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, his medical school and residency training at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and his undergraduate training at Wake Forest University.
