Biographical Sketch:
Mark Loeb MD, MSc is Professor in the Departments of Pathology and Molecular Medicine, Medicine, and Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McMaster University where he is Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Michael G. DeGroote Chair in Infectious Diseases. He graduated from McGill Medical School, then completed fellowships in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology at the University of Toronto and McMaster University, and an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology at McMaster. Research interests include the epidemiology and prevention of influenza and other respiratory infections, randomized trials to address herd immunity of influenza vaccine, the role of genetic variants as determinants of immunogenicity, immune senescence and vaccine response. Dr. Loeb has served on numerous national and international advisory committees. He has published 160 peer reviewed papers and 12 book chapters and is Associate Editor, ACP Journal Club and Evidence-Based Medicine and Co-editor of a textbook on Evidence-Based Infectious Diseases.
