Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Rosenthal is MD graduated from Buenos Aires University; completed fellowship programs on Internal Medicine and ID in Buenos Aires; was visiting professor at Wisconsin University; is graduated in Clinical Effectiveness, from Harvard University and Buenos Aires University; and obtained a certificate in Infection Control (IC) and Hospital Epidemiology from IC Chilean Society. He is the Founder and Chairman of the International Nosocomial Infection Control Consortium (INICC), a nonprofit international research center founded in 1998, which focuses on training HCWs in order to use standardized methods and definitions to conduct surveillance and reduce HAIs in limited-resources countries. INICC have been working with 1500 researchers in 150 cities in 40 limited-resources countries of 4 continents, such in Asia (China, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam), Africa (Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia), Europe (Bulgaria, Greece, Kosovo, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Turkey), and Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Uruguay). He is Chairman of an IC course at Buenos Aires Medical College; has been invited to speak at several International Scientific Meetings in North America, Latin America, Asia, Africa, Europe, and Oceania; is a Task-Force-Member of “Clean Care is Safer Care” WHO program, and reviewer of WHO IC Guidelines, and editorial board member and scientific reviewer of more than 50 international peer reviewed journals (“American Journal of Infection Control”; “Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology”; “Lancet”, “Critical Care Medicine”; “Emerging Infectious Diseases”; “Epidemiology and Infection”, etc); and has advised the governments and has collaborated with edition of the IC Guidelines of countries in Latin America and Asia. Being author of around 300 scientific reports, including manuscripts and abstract, Dr. Rosenthal has received several awards granted at different international scientific meetings (APIC, IFIC, Pan American Association of IC, etc).
