Summary: Patients with compromised immune systems pose special challenges for infection prevention. Presenters will assess changes in pathogens that cause HAIS and discuss diagnostic methods for identifying fungal infections. Current prevention practices including propphylaxis and immunization will be reviewed.
Learning Objectives: - Summarize changes in the pathogens that cause HAIs
- Apply the optimal methods for diagnosing invasive fungal infections in immunocompromised hosts, including nonbiologic markers, e.g., galactomannan, beta D glucan
- Identify prophylaxis and prevention strategies for mould infections
- Review current recommendations for immunizations in the immunocompromised host
