Summary: This session will describe various components of current research needs and activities directed at healthcare-associated infections. It will describe opportunities for research participation through the SHEA Research Consortium, emerging research needs due to public reporting, important research guidance from experts in behavior change, and the unique success of European consortiums to build multi-national research agendas which translate into large multi-center studies.
Learning Objectives: - Discuss the success of European consortia in producing multi-national research agendas and studies, including consortium initiation, critical partnerships, practical design issues, and examples of results with public health relevance
- Describe the activities and direction of the SHEA Research Consortium and provide practical ways to participate
- Identify ways to improve the accuracy and trustworthiness of publicly reported data
- Provide introductory and practical knowledge on applying qualitative and mixed methods at the local level and in research studies to improve our infection prevention activities
- Review practical approaches to applying qualitative and mixed methods at the local level and in research studies to improve infection prevention activities
