Type: Plenary Sessions
Summary: To prevent healthcare acquired infections, we must translate research findings regarding effective interventions into better routine healthcare practice. This session will examine insights from implementation science that can make this process more effective, consistent, and rapid. Specifically, the session will address the role of leadership in implementing change, bundling interventions and scaling them up across healthcare institutions and networks, and the role of human factors and systems engineering in facilitating and sustaining these improvements.
Learning Objectives: - Review key principles for implementing interventions to prevent HAIs
- Describe strategies and examples derived from broad-based implementation of interventions to prevent HAIs
- Assess important elements of human factors engineering to facilitate prevention of HAIs
