Summary: This session will explore the newly launched HCP Safety Component, which was developed to facilitate reporting and interpreting data related to various aspects of HCP safety. Participants will learn about the requirements and the process of NHSN surveillance for blood and body fluid exposures, and its facilitation of OSHA300 log reporting. The session will also explore the process of reporting and utility of the Influenza Vaccination module. Participants will also become familiar with new enhancements put into place in response to the Novel 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic. Participants will learn the required and optional data that can be reported, analysis capabilities, and the potential for expansion into other areas relevant to HCP safety.
Learning Objectives: - Describe requirements and utility for reporting to various modules of the Healthcare Personnel (HCP) Safety Component.
- Know how to utilize new enhancements within NHSN relevant to blood and body fluid exposures and influenza vaccination/adverse event reporting among HCP.
