Summary: This session will address some of the most critical issues facing infection prevention and control programs today as national and state mandates accrue. Presenters will provide practical guidance on how to engage hospital leadership, develop priorities, and foster morale as the scope of work for healthcare epidemiology rapidly expands. Examples from states and institutions will illustrate how experts in the field can articulate key aspects of science and its contribution for developing policy at the local, state and federal level.
Learning Objectives: - Assess appropriate strategies to engage the Chief Medical Officer or Chief Executive Officer and make effective business case for infection prevention
- Identify approaches to advocate for infection prevention priorities and build team morale despite increasing workload and expectations
- Discuss opportunities and mechanisms to influence infection control and prevention agendas at the local, state, and national level.
