Summary: One of the most challenging aspects of occupational health program is management of infected healthcare personnel. In 2010, SHEA published an updated guideline addressing the management of healthcare personnel infected with HBV, HCV or HIV, which identified the complexities of implementing effective policy. This session will explore the controversies in effectively implementing such strategies and the implications for both ethical management of infected healthcare personnel and for patient safety.
