Summary: Effective antimicrobial stewardship is essential to ensure appropriate antimicrobial therapy, reduce antimicrobial pressure leading to the development of antimicrobial resistance, and prevent adverse outcomes of treatment. This session will review new developments in antimicrobia stewardship in Europe relevant to these goals. Presenters will delineate current evidence on effective antibiotic use management and describe key tactics for successful implementation in a variety of health care settings.
